Difference between Power transformer and Distributed Transformer:

Power transformers are used in transmission network whereas distribution network used in low voltage network. The iron loss in Distribution network is less while operating at lower load for the maximum time. The size and insulation power of distributed transformer is less than the power transformer. The efficiency ratio for distribution is almost 90% while power transformer has only 55 % efficiency.
